A gorgon is a fearsome and monstrous creature found in myth and fantasy. It possesses the head of a bull and the body of a large, muscular beast, covered in thick metallic scales. Its eyes emit a menacing glow, and its breath carries a foul stench.

The gorgon’s most notorious feature is its ability to turn creatures to stone with a petrifying gaze. Any unfortunate being caught in its gaze risks being transformed into a lifeless statue, forever frozen in place.

In addition to its petrifying gaze, the gorgon is a formidable opponent in combat. It charges at its enemies with incredible speed and power, using its sharp horns to gore and trample its foes. Its metallic scales provide a natural armor, making it resistant to many forms of attack.

Gorgons are often found in desolate and rocky terrains, preferring solitary lives away from civilization. They are known to be territorial creatures, fiercely defending their territories from intruders.

Encountering a gorgon is a dangerous and potentially deadly situation. It requires careful planning and strategy to overcome its petrifying gaze and formidable physical abilities. Heroes who manage to defeat a gorgon may be rewarded with valuable treasures, as the creatures are often attracted to and hoard shiny objects. However, the risk of facing a gorgon should not be taken lightly, as its power and ferocity make it a formidable opponent in any encounter.

Special Abilities

Trampling Charge

If the gorgon moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a gore attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the gorgon can make one attack with its hooves against it as a bonus action.

Actions

  • Gore: Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (2d12 + 5) piercing damage.
  • Hooves: Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d10 + 5) bludgeoning damage.
  • Petrifying Breath: The gorgon exhales petrifying gas in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a target begins to turn to stone and is restrained. The restrained target must repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn. On a success, the effect ends on the target. On a failure, the target is petrified until freed by the greater restoration spell or other magic.
